More trouble for Okorocha’s son-in-law Nwosu as AA chairman rejects him as party’s governorship candidate

The Governorship ambition of Uche Nwosu, the son-in-law to Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state, has again hit the wall. Uche Nwosu who defected to AA after he failed to secure governorship ticket of APC.

The AA national chairman, Tunde Anifowose-Kelani, said that Nwosu is neither a member of the party nor its governorship candidate The national chairman of Action Alliance party (AA), Tunde Anifowose-Kelani, has rejected the Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha’s son-in-law, Uche Nwosu,‎ as the gubernatorial candidate of the party in the state. Nigerian Tribune reports that Anifowose-Kelani, made this known in a statement signed and made available to journalists in Abuja on Thursday, December Zenithnaija gathered that he maintained that Nwosu is yet to become a registered member of the party, and therefore, can not be recognised as the party’s standard-bearer for Imo state in the forthcoming general elections.

According to him, “Uche Nwosu is not yet a member of our party and cannot come through the back door to be a gubernatorial candidate of the party in Imo state.”

The AA national chairman further said that the party has rules and regulations guiding its operation, adding that in order to become a registered member, there are due process such person must follow. Kelani, therefore, advised that if Uche Nwosu really wants to be a registered member of Action Alliance (AA) party, he should do the needful.

“People of such pedigree should know better than junk politicking which would not help towards 2019.” It will be recalled that ‎Uche Nwosu and some other aggrieved members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo state is seeking an alternative party to contest elections in 2019, following the crisis that ensued during the APC primaries.

Meanwhile, we had previously reported that eighteen members of the Imo state House of assembly announced their defection from their political parties. It was reported that the speaker, Acho Ihim, and 17 other lawmakers dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and defected to the Action Alliance (AA).
