Harry Kane reveals the ‘three words’ Jurgen Klopp said to him after Spurs’ draw at Anfield

The 22-year-old striker, who salvaged a point for Mauricio Pochettino’s title-chasing side, was seen in conversation with the Reds’ manager at full-time.

Kane’s strike, a brilliant snapshot finish on the turn, cancelled out Philippe Coutinho’s opener and so impressive was the goal, Klopp could not help but share his appreciation of it with the England international.
“He just said three words: what a strike,” Kane revealed. “If I’d scored another, he might not have done that!”

Klopp had previously refused to reveal his words to Kane when asked by journalists in post-match interviews, instead focusing on the quality of Tottenham’s equaliser.

“From midfield you have to defend from both sides because between Dejan [Lovren] and the ball was the big body of Harry Kane. He is a really nice striker and scored a goal.”

Kane’s strike was his 22nd of the league season, a total which has not previously been reached by a Tottenham player in the Premier League era.

“It’s a great achievement, one I’m very proud of but hopefully it doesn’t stop here, hopefully there are still a few more goals,” said Kane, when asked about his feelings on reaching the milestone.

“I didn’t know about this record until I went in. It’s a great thing to have, but three points are all that I care about at the moment.

“For me, it’s just about the team and helping to get as many points as possible,” he added.

Tottenham’s draw ultimately saw them lose ground on league leaders Leicester City, who opened up a seven-point gap at the top of the table with victory over Southampton on Sunday.
