31st August: Saturday’s Football Accumulator – 7/1

With another hectic Saturday from across England’s footballing tiers, we here at Soccer News have found a handful of helpful tips that can boost your weekend acca:

Saturday 31st August

BST 15:00 West Ham vs Norwich City

Starting with Saturday’s hosts, picking up a 2-0 win away at Newport in Tuesday’s EFL Cup tie, West Ham appear to have really bounced back from their opening weekend 5-0 hammering against Manchester City earlier in the month. Also putting in an impressive display in their 3-1 win away at Watford last weekend, Manuel Pellegrini’s men have one eye on making a European push this season. Now enjoying a three-match unbeaten run across all competitions, there is no doubt that the former Premier League winning boss will be excited by club-record signing, Sébastien Haller. Securing a £45million move from Eintracht Frankfurt over the summer, the 25-year-old bagged a brace away at Watford last time out and has been a real shining light for the Hammers so far. As for Saturday’s guests, although Norwich’s attacking return to the Premier League has gained them a long-list of admirers, Daniel Farke’s side have some glaring defensive issues that need resolving and the Canneries also came crashing out of the EFL Cup at the hands of League Two outfit Crawley in midweek. Already shipping eight goals in their opening three Premier League appearances, no side in England’s top-tier holds a worse defensive record than Norwich in their opening three contests.

Tip: Sébastien Haller to score anytime @ 20/21

15:00 Luton Town vs Huddersfield Town

Although Luton may have struggled with their consistency after making a Championship return over the summer, the Hatters appear to have finally found their feet. Putting in their best performance so far this season in their empathic 3-0 victory away at Cardiff in Tuesday’s EFL Cup clash, Graeme Jones’ men also caught the eye in their 3-1 victory away at Barnsley last weekend. With their sights solely set on extending their second-tier status come May, one man who is set to lead Luton’s charge is last year’s League One Golden Boot winner, James Collins. Recording 25 strikes last season and continuing to shine over the summer, the 28-year-old already has a pair of Championship goals to his name and should be relishing Huddersfield’s arrival this weekend. Still searching for a permanent replacement for the recently sacked Jan Siewert, the Terries are currently enduring a four-match losing run and are one of just two sides in the second-tier who are yet to record a victory in their opening five appearances. A side that is low on both form and confidence, Saturday’s trip to Kenilworth Road could prove to be another extremely tough test for Huddersfield.

Tip: Luton Town win @ 21/20

15:00 AFC Wimbledon vs Wycombe Wanderers

Starting with Saturday’s guests, after pulling off a remarkable comeback and snatching three second-half goals to clinch a dramatic 4-3 win over Southend last weekend, Wycombe have continued on what has been a very bright start to the new League One campaign. Despite only just securing their third-tier status with a three-point buffer last season, Gareth Ainsworth sees only his sides goal difference keeping them off top spot and the Wanderers are enjoying a five-match unbeaten run at the start of the new campaign. A huge part of Wycombe’s recent resurge has come thanks to their form in the final third. Along with bagging four against Southend last time out, Saturday’s guests have bagged 10 goals already this year, the second-best attacking record of anyone in the division. On the flip side, while Wycombe might be enjoying a bright start to the season, the same cannot be said for a struggling AFC Wimbledon outfit. Suffering a 3-1 hammering away at Sunderland last weekend, the hosts are still looking for their first victory in any competition so far and have now lost five of their last six outings. More worrying, they have also shipped two or more goals in each of those defeats.

Tip: Wycombe Wanderers to score over 1.5 goals @6/5

Our Saturday Accumulator:

West Ham vs Norwich City – Sébastien Haller to score anytime @ 20/21

Luton Town vs Huddersfield Town – Luton Town win @ 21/20

AFC Wimbledon vs Wycombe Wanderers – Wycombe Wanderers to score over 1.5 goals @ 6/5
