While the major European leagues might be taking a break for the international break, we are are not short of action from across the National League. With a hectic Tuesday of action, we here at Soccer News have found a handful of helpful tips that can boost your midweek acca:
BST 19:45 Woking vs Torquay
Starting with Tuesday’s hosts, while Woking may have eventually finished 10 points adrift of Torquay in the race to clinch the National League South title last season, few would have expected their stellar start to the new campaign. Coming off the back of a 3-2 win over Barrow last weekend, Alan Dowson’s men are currently enjoying a six-match winning run in England’s fifth-tier and now hold a two-point buffer at the top of the table entering September. With their sights firmly set on securing what would be a historic back-to-back promotion campaign, a huge part of Woking’s rise to the top of the National League has been their form on in the final third. Led by leading marksman Jake Hyde who already has six goals to his name, Tuesday’s hosts have now scored two or more goals in each of their last five appearances. As for the visitors, while Torquay may have secured their National League return empathically last year, Gary Johnson’s men are coming off the back of a 2-1 loss against Hartlepool over the weekend and also shipped a pair of goals against Barnet last week. Also managing to win just one of their four matches away from Plainmoor Ground since making their fifth-tier return, Woking should be optimistic about extending their winning run on Tuesday.
Tip: Woking to score over 1.5 goals @ 11/8
19:45 Chesterfield vs Halifax
While Halifax may have only been able to slump to a bottom half finish in the National League last season, they have laid down an early marker since opening the new campaign last month. Putting in yet another eye-catching display in their 2-1 win over Solihull Moors on Saturday, Tuesday’s guests are currently enjoying a three-match winning run and a fourth victory in midweek could see them leapfrog Woking to top spot. Losing just one of their opening eight domestic matches so far, former Oldham boss Pete Wild has seen his side win eight of their last 10 matches across all competitions and have remarkably tasted defeat just once since the 19th of April. With no side in England’s fifth-tier bagging more goals than Halifax entering September, the mood in their camp remains the highest it has been in recent memory and they should be relishing a trip to Chesterfield in midweek. With Tuesday’s hosts once again struggling and managing to just snatch a point off of Dagenham & Redbridge over the weekend, John Sheridan’s men are one of just two sides still in search of their first victory after eight matchups and more worrying for fans around Derbyshire, Chesterfield have failed to win any of their previous four National League matches at the Proact Stadium.
Tip: Halifax draw no bet @ 6/4
19:45 Wrexham vs Maidenhead United
Starting with Tuesday’s visitors, putting in yet another dominant display and picking up a 3-0 win away at Sutton United over the weekend, Maidenhead are enjoying a real purple patch in the National League. Already climbing as high as fourth and handed the chance to potentially climb as high as second in midweek, Alan Devonshire’s men have now won four of their last five and it will undoubtedly be their form in the final third most impressing fans around York Road Stadium. Bagging two or more goals in each of their previous four victories, it is also worth noting that Maidenhead have won each of their four matches on the road so far this season. One man who has really spearheaded the visitors start to the 2019/2020 campaign has been the red-hot Daniel Whitehall. Once again finding the net away at Sutton last time out, the summer arrival has already bagged five National League goals, including four in his last four. Even more impressive, the 23-year-old is currently averaging a goal every 53 minutes. Given Wrexham’s continued issues at the back, Whitehall should be looking to extend on his goalscoring start. Suffering a 2-1 loss at home to Stockport last weekend and now coming off the back of back-to-back defeats, Tuesday’s hosts have failed to win any of their last four appearances and have begun freefalling down the bottom half of the table.
Tip: Daniel Whitehall to score anytime @ 3/1
