The Nigeria Police Force has cautioned the public against relying on social media for information, particularly on sensitive national security matters.
Speaking on recent allegations regarding USAID funding for Boko Haram, Senate President, Godswill Akpabio emphasized the need to obtain facts directly from Nigerian security intelligence rather than social media speculation.
“Ninety-nine percent of what is on social media is inaccurate, sometimes total speculation, and sometimes based on mischief,” he stated.
Akpabio urged Nigerians to be wary of misinformation and trust official sources for credible updates on security issues. His remarks come amid widespread discussions and concerns over unverified claims circulating online.
