Fleeing Kidnap Victim Rescued By Amotekun Personnel In Osun

A fleeing kidnap victim has been rescued by operatives of the Osun Amotekun Corps in Osun State.

The victim it was gathered escaped from the den of the kidnappers around the Kelebe area of Osogbo on Tuesday.

A statement made available by the Osun Amotekun Corps Commander, Brigadier-General Bashir Adewinmbi on Wednesday said the victim was received after residents of Kelebe called the attention of the personnel of the security outfit.

“On Tuesday night around 2100hrs, we received a distress call from residents of Kelebe in Osogbo that they saw an unknown woman fleeing out of the forest in the area and our men swung into action immediately to rescue the victim and we succeeded in rescuing her and brought her for safety in our office.

“During cross-examination, we discovered that she and her husband were abducted on Friday on their way from Iragbiji to a night vigil in Osogbo by unknown gunmen.

Adewinmbi advised the general public to be security conscious and urged them to report any suspicious movement in their environment to the security agencies without delay.

DAILY POST recalls that a couple travelling on a motorcycle along Iragbiji/Kelebe road to attend a night vigil in their church in Osogbo were abducted by unknown gunmen who barricaded the road.

The Osun Police Command spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola who confirmed the abduction said the police had swung into action.
