
Suspected cult members reportedly stabbed to death a 20-year-old 200 hundred level student of the Federal University, Wukari, in Taraba State.
The incident, which reportedly occurred Thursday night, has begun to generate tensions in the school premises and surrounding communities.
The victim, identified as Mark Shagari, was until his demise, a student of the Department of Biological Science in the university.
The deceased young man who lived off the school campus, was said to have been attacked and stabbed to death by suspected cultists in Wukari town.
The staff of the institution, who also confirmed the incident in confidence, said the news of the gruesome murder of the twenty-year-old students emerged as a rude shock.
The staff who could not give a detailed account of the incident said, “we were told that after he was stabbed to death in Wukari town, his remains were deposited close to where he resides within the town.”
Confirming the death of the student, fellow students appealed to the school authorities to intensify security around the school premises.
They also pleaded with the state government to join forces with the school authorities to fish out those behind the killing of the student.
The Institution’s spokesperson, Ashu Agya, said the security forces have commenced investigations into the gruesome killing of the students.
According to the Institution’s spokeswoman, no stone will be left unturned in unravelling the circumstances behind the assassination of the student.
