Police neutralize two armed robbers, arrest one in Akwa Ibom

Operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command have neutralized two robbery gang members and arrested another in Uyo, the state capital.

Spokesperson of the command, SP Odiko Macdom, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Thursday, September 21, 2023, said the robbers have been terrorizing residents at Udoette by School Road, Ikot Udoro and its environs. 

He said the command received a distress call of an armed robbery incident at about 1:50am, last Tuesday and operatives of the Quick Response Unit proceeded to the scene. 

On sighting the police, the hoodlums engaged them in a gun duel.

The PPRO said during the gun duel, two of the notorious robbers were fatally injured while one Godswill Isaac was arrested. 

He said items recovered from the criminals include,  four locally made pistols, 15 live cartridges, 2 expanded cartridges and one Iron cutter.

Other items are, two Machetes, one dagger, 2 Plasma Television sets, a Woofer MP3, one HP Computer Laptop, 10 Android phones, five smaller phones, N15,750 cash and $8.

The spokesman said some victims have been trooping to the Police Command Headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia for Identification and collection of their belongings.
