One killed, four injured as suspected herders attack road users in Benue(photos)

One fatality and four injuries were reported following an assault by suspected herders on travelers along the Naka-Agagbe Road in Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State.

The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon, October 1, 2023, as the victims were journeying from Naka, the administrative center of Gwer West LGA, to the rural Agagbe village.

According to local accounts, the attack took place near Tse-Awunah and primarily targeted internally displaced persons (IDPs). Tragically, one individual, identified as Atakpa Ezekiel, lost their life during the attack.

Agagbe IDP Camp Chairman, Ibaah Terna Jacob, confirmed the incident on Monday, October 2, and also provided the names of the four wounded individuals: Agagbe Saaondo, Iorgbuusu Bem, Ugwu Arinze Chukwu, and Awuhe Jacob.
