The chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Ola Olukoyede has expressed worry over the alarming rate of Nigerian youths involved in cyber crimes.
In a statement issued on its X handle, Olukoyede said it is worrisome that seven out of ten students in Nigeria today are involved in cyber crimes. The EFCC boss said this while receiving a delegation from Daar Communication PLC that came on a courtesy visit to the corporate headquarters of the EFCC in Jabi, Abuja.
“We are looking towards Daar Communications to enlighten our youths on the evils of cyber crimes. It is worrisome that seven out of ten students today are involved in cyber crimes,” Olukoyede said.
The EFCC Chairman called on the media to design programmes that are aimed at enlightening the Nigerian youth on the evil of the crimes.
“These are the youths we are preparing to be leaders of tomorrow. The media should not relent in enlightening them on the evils of such criminal practices.”
