Portable Arrested Over G-Wagon Debt

LAGOS, Nigeria – May 14, 2024

Popular Nigerian musician Habeeb Okikiola, known by his stage name Portable, was arrested on Tuesday by Lagos State Police. The arrest stems from an alleged unpaid debt on a Mercedes Benz G-Wagon.

Reports suggest Portable purchased the luxury SUV for N27 million but only paid N13 million upfront. The car dealer reportedly contacted Portable about the remaining balance, but the singer allegedly refused payment, claiming the vehicle had mechanical issues.

According to police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin, Portable was arrested after the car dealer filed a complaint. Videos circulating online show officers apprehending Portable. The graphic nature of the videos has been blurred by some outlets.

Portable is currently in police custody. It’s unclear if he has been charged or released on bail.
