Gunmen kill man, set govt vehicle ablaze in Imo (video)

Unknown gunmen killed a young man at Orji in Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State.

The incident happened on Tuesday afternoon, July 30, 2024, barely 24 hours after four policemen and a Point of Sale operator were k!lled in Irete, Owerri West Local Government Area of the state.

It was gathered that the gunmen who shot sporadically in the air, heading to Owerri-Enugu Road, also set ablaze an Imo State Government Waste Management Agency vehicle at the Nkwo Orji Market.

According to an eyewitness, the gunmen were shouting, “Stay in your homes.” “Don’t come out during the sit-at-home if you love your lives.”

The spokesperson of the State Police Command, ASP Henry Okoye, confirmed the incident.

“The police operatives have been massively deployed at Orji. The situation is under control. The miscreants responsible for the attacks will certainly be brought to book,” the PPRO stated.
