The Abia State Government has said it will commence the payment of the N70,000 new minimum wage in October.
The state Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, disclosed this on Monday while briefing the press on the outcome of the week’s Executive Council meeting chaired by Governor Alex Otti.
Kanu said the decision was “in fulfillment of his (Governor Otti’s) promise,” adding that the implementation “will cut across all categories of workers”.
The commissioner also disclosed that the state government, in its bid to strengthen the administration of justice, would commence the construction of 17 court halls across the 17 local government areas of the state, stating that this was geared towards ensuring that the process of administration of justice system was not be impeded in any way in the state.
He further disclosed that the state Ministry of Health will next week organise a free medical outreach at Ugwunnagbo.
