The leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation earlier announced its plan to evacuate the Super Eagles players and officials from the North African country.
The Libyan authorities have provided a bus to convey Nigeria’s Super Eagles players and coaches to their destination after leaving them stranded for about 16 hours inside Al Abraq International Airport.
This update was given by the team striker and one of the stranded players, Victor Boniface, who shared a video of a driver attached to the bus.
“See this dragon carry bus come after 16 hours,” he said in a post on social media.
“Come Dey video,” the German-based player captioned the video.
SaharaReporters had reported how the team had been stranded for over 13 hours in Libya after the host country’s government disrupted their travel plans.
This forced the players to announce that they would boycott the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying match against Libya, scheduled to be played on Tuesday.
The Nigerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar had said that his office was closely monitoring the situation concerning the hostile treatment meted out to the Super Eagles in Libya.
