“I smoke but I don’t count weed as a drug” – Davido

Nigerian music superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has expressed his view that cannabis, often referred to as weed, is not a hard drug.

Speaking on The Morning Hustle podcast, Davido addressed criticisms of his plans to fight drug abuse while being open about his personal use of cannabis.

The singer shared that his foundation will donate to orphanages and support initiatives to combat drug abuse, especially among youths.

He said: “This year, I’m donating to the fight against drug abuse among youths. I don’t count weed as a hard drug. Some people are saying I smoke weed but I don’t count weed as a drug.”

Highlighting the growing issue of addiction, Davido added, “A lot of people have been going through a lot recently. Drug addiction is becoming rampant. So I want to donate to that cause to help them quit.”
