Governor Fubara Commissions GGSS Ahoada

I am overwhelmed with joy standing here this afternoon to celebrate a project that is not associated with vindictiveness. I use that word because this project was awarded before May 29, yet it wasn’t funded, and the contractors are not even people I know. By the special grace of God, and because of the importance we attach to education as a key priority, we invited the contractors in August of that year, assured them that we would fund this project, and made it clear we were not interested in changing contractors. This speaks volumes about the kind of leadership guiding this state.

On Wednesday this week, we inaugurated an 11.8-kilometer Okehi-Umuola-Eberi link road, connecting Omuma and Etche. At the event, we boldly stated that very soon, we will inaugurate another project in Omuma. We even challenged those who doubted us, saying that the project we will commission in Omuma will be a first-of-its-kind. However, some individuals, who see social media as their only means of survival and resort to selling dogs for a living, have chosen to criticize us instead of reflecting on their own lives. I wonder why someone would go to school, have their parents invest in their education, only to settle for being a “data boy” and a dog seller. If those who claim to support you genuinely valued you, why didn’t they offer you meaningful appointments? Sometimes, it is better to reflect on your life than engage in baseless insults. Ask yourself if you are truly living a quality life.

I stand here to say that even if there was a project commissioned at that time, it was merely a farm road with no real significance. What we are commissioning today has a profound impact, adding value to the lives of the people we serve. This is the kind of leadership we celebrate—projects that make a difference, not token gestures.

Today, we are inaugurating a special school for the education of girls who will become future mothers and wives, contributing to the greatness of this nation. The quality of the girl-child is paramount, as it directly impacts the nation’s future. Our approach is strategic, focusing not just on doing things, but on doing what is right.

I assure our people that we will only embark on projects that we can proudly stand behind.

On a political note, I understand the emotions displayed here today. I sympathize with this great kingdom. When the Eze Ekpeye spoke, many of you didn’t understand the depth of his words. Because of their public support for me, he was arrested, falsely accused, and detained for over four months, alongside Cassidy. My Chief of Staff was even declared wanted for openly supporting us. These actions were attempts to diminish our influence, but the truth always prevails. These challenges have a time limit, and I assure you with boldness that their end is near. Patience and faith in God will see us through.

To Eze Ekpeye and other traditional rulers who have suffered for supporting us, your request for recognition of other traditional stools will be granted.

Regarding the extension of this road, our goal is not just to commission projects but to address issues that facilitate the smooth operation of this area. We decided to work on this road because the other access road was in terrible condition. During inspection, my heart skipped as we crossed a weak bridge. I assure you that, with more resources, the remaining one kilometer and the bridge will be completed.

As for the internal roads, the original contractor has proven to lack the courage to stand for what is right. Therefore, I believe it is wrong to continue funding someone who has declared themselves an enemy of the state. The Ministry of Works must have written to them by now. I will officially cancel the project and re-award it for proper completion.

I want to thank the good people of Ekpeye, not just Ahoada East, for your unwavering support. You have openly demonstrated your loyalty to this government. We will honor your son who has stood by us, and this is just the beginning of what we will achieve together. I appeal to you to remain peaceful and avoid giving our detractors any reason to attack. As we approach the festive season, celebrate with joy, knowing that our government remains committed to its mantra: People First.

I wholeheartedly accept this chieftaincy title, “Eagle,” which symbolizes strength and resilience. Even in the face of frustration, we continue to soar high. We will keep making you proud and bring honor to our people.
