A Nigerian influencer has called a popular pastor a “hungry thief” after he urged his congregation to pay their first fruits before paying school fees or eating immediately after entering a new year.
The incident was shared in a post gaining traction on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
The video, originally uploaded by a media outlet, featured Pastor Korede Komaiya making the controversial statement.
In the video, Pastor Komaiya preached to his congregation, urging them to pay their first fruits as soon as the new year begins.
He emphasized that this offering should come before paying school fees, eating, purchasing a new car, or making any other major financial decisions.
His statement included: “It is first thing first, immediately you do, before you pay school fees, before you eat, before you change your vehicle, before you renovate your house, before you reinvest in your business.”
After seeing the video, an influencer took to his page to criticize the pastor, calling him a “hungry thief” for his sermon.
He wrote, “My friend, will you keep quiet? Hungry thief! You’ll be the first fruit of hellfire. These clowns keep twisting scripture to feed their bellies.”
As the post spread online, concerned individuals flooded the comments section to share their thoughts on the controversial statement.
