Lady regrets rejecting ‘kind admirer’ two years after multiple failed relationships

A Nigerian lady shares an emotional story about her NYSC camp best friend who blames her for losing a devoted admirer she never liked.

In her post on X, @Ryann_Agada recounted how her friend had a suitor who adored her beyond measure. Despite his deep affection, the friend never reciprocated his feelings, seeing him as unappealing due to his fashion sense—oversized trousers and heeled slippers—which led to the nickname “10 Yards.”

According to Ryann, 10 Yards was incredibly kind and generous, often bringing provisions, buying food, and taking care of her friend’s needs. However, her friend only tolerated him for the free meals and benefits, while secretly crushing on another corps member.

“My NYSC camp bestie and I became roommates after camp. They was this guy who literally adored her. He liked her too much that he would do anything just to make her happy. Unfortunately, she didn’t feel the same way towards him. According to her, he wasn’t her spec. The guy was not bad looking, but his dressing was funny ngl.

His trousers were oversize and his pam slippers had a touch of heels. We nicknamed him “10 yards”

Apart from his dress sense and always looking unkempt, he was
Very nice. He was our go-to contact.

The guy’s restaurant was not far from our PPA. In fact, their little situationship started when we went there to eat. He didn’t collect money from us, and told us that we could come anytime. She agreed to give him her number only
Because he was going to be the ticket to free meals.
They started dating, but she was always treating him badly.

This guy would bring foodstuff and provisions to the house and still send food to my friend at work sometimes.

He took her to a corpers hangout. They stayed until midnight and wanted to go to the club, but she didn’t want to go, so they left her and she was drunk. She called me to say that she was stranded, and I called 10 yards. It was past midnight already, but he went to the place and
Brought her home without complaining. He kept asking if she was okay and all

On her birthday, he paid for everything she wore. Took care of food and drinks for the party and still got her presents.

He came a little late, dressed in 20 yards this time, must have been a new one
For his girl.

My friend didn’t want him around. Even when he wanted to take pictures with her, she refused. She kept telling me to ask him to leave, that he’s embarrassing her. At one point, she told him to leave. The guy quietly left.

The next day, he called me to
meet up. He wanted advice

When we met, I told him to let her go. He said he loved her so much, and he didn’t know if he would be able to do that.
I sha told him what I would tell my brother if he was in such a situation.
And I told my friend about it, but she didn’t care
Few months later, we finished service and left that area.

Yesterday she sent me a message saying she texted 10 yards, and tried to apologise and make up with him but he said he doesn’t want her anymore

I asked why she wanted him now, I mean, two years ago she didn’t
like anything about him, and from his Facebook posts, not much has changed.

Apparently, all the guys she’s been with after 10 yards have been hit and run, and now she wants him back because she wants true love.

But he’s no longer interested, and he told her that he’ll forever
be grateful to me for helping him see the light

And for that, she’s blaming me. She called me ITK and jealous. She said it doesn’t matter what she did, as her friend I was supposed to support her and not make the guy leave her. I just want to know, did I do something wrong?”
