Nigerian man in UK faces disciplinary panel after telling a female colleague she added weight

A Nigerian man based in the UK is reportedly set to appear before a disciplinary committee at his workplace for comments made to his white female colleague.

According to an X user who shared the incident, the man had told the lady that she was “adding weight” and suggested that if she went to the gym, her “shape would really make sense.” The woman said she felt traumatised by the remarks, prompting formal action.

The situation has escalated as the company in question was said to have sponsored his visa. A termination could mean he would have to leave the UK entirely.

It was also revealed that this isn’t the first time the man has made inappropriate comments. He allegedly asked two lesbian colleagues how they had their child, and was only saved from consequences then because the acting director—who is also Nigerian—intervened.

The post has sparked mixed reactions online, with many warning Nigerians abroad to mind their business and keep workplace conversations neutral.

“Guy, the only thing I dey follow my British colleagues talk here no pass football and Naija food,” the X user added. “Anything aside that, you’ll not see me there.”
