Nigerian lady shares cultural shock from China as men’s salaries goes to wives

A Nigerian lady has expressed shock over a cultural practice she discovered during a visit to China—men‘s salaries being paid directly into their wives‘ bank accounts.

This revelation was shared on TikTok by user @babyqueenpoly2.0, who recounted her conversation with a Chinese man.

According to her, the man showed her proof that his monthly salary is paid to his wife’s account. When she asked why, he explained that a man’s role is to be the breadwinner, while the wife’s role is simply “to be beautiful.”

Curious, she asked what would happen if the wife used the money for something else. In response, she was further surprised to learn that many Chinese men also handle household chores, including cooking and cleaning.

She added in the video:

“And mind you, they also cook and clean 😭😭😭 like they literally do most of the chores in the house 😭😭😭.”
