Governor Otti grants automatic employment to nine corps members in Abia

Nine ex-corps members from Abia State who recently received Presidential Honour Awards from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) have been offered automatic employment in the state’s civil service by Governor Alex Otti.

The governor made the announcement while receiving six of the awardees in his office, led by NYSC State Coordinator Gladys Adama. Otti directed the State Head of Service to issue appointment letters immediately, saying the new employees could start work as soon as their documentation was completed.

“On behalf of the state government, I am temporarily lifting the embargo on employment to employ the nine of you, except if any are not interested,” Otti said. He praised the recipients for their exceptional performance during their service year, which earned them national recognition, and urged them to maintain high standards in their future roles.

Speaking on behalf of the awardees, Nwogu Chinomso of Obingwa LGA expressed gratitude to the governor and pledged dedication to serving Abia State. “Your Excellency, you are a true leader. Our prayer is that God will continue to grant you wisdom to guide the affairs of the state,” he said.

Adama highlighted that the nine awardees, out of more than 100 candidates nationwide, brought pride to Abia State, with most having served far from home. Only one was posted in the eastern region, while the others were assigned to northern states.

The ex-corps members granted employment include Nwogu Chinonso, Anyanwụ Promise, Ezieme Francis Uba, Emmanuel Ogbenyealu Ezinne, Abia Chinwendu Grace, Nwafike Esther Chiemela, Dr. Ugwa Obinna Mark, Eke Lawrence Miracle, and James Raphael Chukwuebuka. The ceremony was attended by senior government officials.
