A woman who married a poor man because she wanted “peace of mind” has shared how she discovered that her husband is a serial thief.

She explained that even though the man was not financially buoyant, she dated him and handled all the bills while they were courting.

After their wedding, she said she continued to carry the family’s financial burdens.

Four months into their marriage, she said she discovered her husband is a thief who steals from every company where he works which is why he was usually jobless. To compound issues, she said he also became physically violent.

Eventually, she had to leave the marriage.

She wrote on X: “I was once in your shoes. Just 4 months after my wedding, I discovered my ex used to call stealing “runs.” No place he ever worked without being caught in this so-called runs. He would get arrested, and I’d end up paying the company back.

“He even went as far as selling the car I bought with a cooperative loan. He was always jobless, while I was the one financing the house. Then he turned around to accuse me, saying it was men who gave me money.

“It led to different forms of domestic violence. I kept pushing because of what my parents would say, yet I didn’t carry them along. The day I finally called my dad and said, “Baba, in this marriage I’m done,” my dad replied, “Yetunde, if you are done, then you are done.”

“That’s how I went back to my father’s house. And today, look at me. There’s growth. There’s progress.

“If we don’t share, you won’t learn.

“PS: he moved in with a mum of two just 4 months after I left and last week I learnt the mum of 2 said she’s not doing again that I have spoiled him with money oh I forgot he was caught stealing in a reputable company he’s presently on the run.

“Even when we courting, I run all expenses. You see, all this lie that women are about money doesn’t apply to some of us. Some of us just want peace of mind.”
