Nigeria is still the best place to raise children – M.I Abaga says

Nigerian rapper and music executive, M.I Abaga, has opened up about his desire to raise his future children in Nigeria, saying the country’s strong sense of community makes it ideal for parenting.

Speaking in a recent interview, the hip-hop star praised Nigeria’s family-oriented culture, noting that children raised in such an environment grow up with deep values and strong cultural ties.

M.I explained that despite the challenges of living in Nigeria, he believes the bond among relatives, neighbours, and friends provides a kind of emotional support that money can’t buy.

The rapper compared Nigeria’s communal system to that of the United States, where people often live more individualistic lives due to demanding work schedules.

He pointed out that in countries like America, many parents struggle to balance family life with their careers, leaving little time for extended family support.

While he acknowledged that living abroad offers exposure and comfort, M.I maintained that Nigeria provides a better environment for children to learn empathy, resilience, and identity from an early age.

Although he admitted he is not yet making firm family plans, M.I said he would prefer a balanced upbringing for his future kids, one that combines Nigerian roots with international experiences.

He suggested that children could spend their early years in Nigeria to build a strong cultural foundation before exploring life abroad later for education or work.

The award-winning rapper concluded that his choice reflects a desire to give his children both cultural pride and global perspective, a blend he believes will help them thrive anywhere in the world.
