Singer Peter Okoye aka Mr P. has reacted to a report that claimed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has no evidence to support his allegation that his brothers, Jude Okoye, and Paul Okoye, of the defunct music group, P-Square, fraudulently withdrew $800,000 from their company account while they worked together.
Back in 2024, Peter dragged his brothers before the anti-graft agency, claiming that Jude diverted funds belonging to P-Square, operated 47 undeclared bank accounts, and manipulated the shareholding structure of Northside Entertainment Ltd., a company jointly owned by the brothers.
Punch had reported that at the resumed cross-examination at a Lagos State Special Offences Court in Ikeja last Friday, November 28, the EFCC counsel, Mohammed Bashir, told the presiding judge, Justice Rahman Oshodi, that the commission could not tender evidence supporting the alleged $800,000 withdrawal.
In his words “We do not have it. It is his evidence. Let him prove it. I can’t give what I don’t have.”
The EFCC denied possessing records of the accounts.
“I do not have 47 bank accounts. It is one of the witness’s claims, but I do not have such a copy.” The defence tendered Corporate Affairs Commission records contradicting Peter’s claim of an 80% stake.
Reacting via his social media handle, Peter described the report as ‘’jokes and propaganda”. According to him, there was never a court session where this claim by the EFCC investigator was made.
