BREAKING: Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe officially dumps APGA, joins ADC

Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe, who represents Abia South, has formally resigned from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The lawmaker announced his defection on Wednesday, bringing weeks of speculation over his political future to an end. His decision follows prolonged internal disagreements within APGA.

Abaribe said he could no longer continue in the party due to what he described as irreconcilable differences with its leadership and direction. According to him, repeated efforts to resolve the issues internally failed.

He explained that the ADC offered a clearer platform that aligns with his principles and commitment to democratic accountability. The senator said his move was the outcome of wide consultations with political associates and constituents.

“After wide consultations, I have taken the decision to formally resign from APGA and align with the African Democratic Congress, which provides a clearer vision for good governance and national renewal,” Abaribe said.
