My sisters-in-law would take big sizes of meat and leave me with little or none – Nigerian woman who got married to a breadwinner at 18 shares her experience

A Nigerian woman, Anabel Oluebube, who got married at the age of 18, has advised young girls to be financially and emotionally independent before settling down.

She gave the advice while reacting to a post by a Nigerian lady, Okafor Oluchukwu, who narrated how her sister-in-law used to flog her in the early years of marriage.

Sharing her experience as an 18-year-old wife, Anabel revealed that her husband was the breadwinner and his sisters didn’t hesitate to remind her that she came into their family with nothing.

According to Anabel, she wasn’t allowed to share food after cooking or make separate meal for herself.

“You people should stop doubting that lady that said that her sis in-law was flogging her when she newly got married. My own experience as a 18 year old girl that got married to an extended family’s breadwinner was almost the same! This is why you will always see me condemn early marriage,” she wrote.

I remember when my husband will give me money to cook for the whole family and my sis in-laws will tell me that they are the one to share the food when I’m done cooking. They will take the big sizes of meat and leave me with little or none!

I dare not cook a separate meal for myself cox every meal must be for the family and that’s where I MUST eat from, if I complain they will as me how much I came with from Ọzụbụlụ to Ihiala when I married their brother.

Even after my first child, it continued that made me fight with one of them and I nearly comot her front teeth!

They literally swore that I won’t enjoy my marriage then oooo!

Thank God for growth and where I am now…e remain for them to address me as “her excellency ma” because it’s no longer the Anabel they use to know!!

And they dare not try it again cox my first son fit handle all of them for me.

I have forgiven them but I made sure that the boundaries I set are still there!

Getting married to a man because he is a good man is not enough! What about his family?

Be up to 23 and financially independent before you marry any Adam please.
