18-year-old Yobe housewife stabs her husband in genitals

The Yobe State Police Command has launched a manhunt for an 18-year-old housewife, Khadija Jamilu, for allegedly attacking her husband during a domestic dispute in Potiskum Local Government Area of the state.

The spokesperson of the command, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, who disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, February 7, 2026 said the suspect, Khadija Jamilu, allegedly st2bbed her 25-year-old husband in the genital area with a knife.

The PPRO said operatives of the Potiskum Divisional Police Headquarters responded to a distress call at about 3:00 pm on Friday, reporting the incident.

According to Abdulkarim, operatives rushed the victim to the hospital where he is currently receiving treatment.

“The Yobe State Police Command has recorded a disturbing case of domestic violence involving grievous bodily harm. On 6th February, 2026, at about 1500 hours, the Potiskum Divisional Police Headquarters received a distress call reporting a violent domestic incident which occurred earlier the same day at about 0100 hours,” the statement read.

“One Khadija Jamilu, aged 18 years, now at large, allegedly attacked her husband, aged 25 years, both of the same address, using a knife and inflicted a deep cut injury on his genital organ.

“Following the report, police operatives promptly visited the scene and rushed the victim to the State Specialist Hospital, Potiskum, for urgent medical attention. He was subsequently referred to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Azare, where he is currently receiving treatment.

“Efforts are in top gear to arrest the fleeing suspect, while investigation into the case is ongoing.”

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Ado, psc, fdc, strongly condemned the act and emphasized that marriage should be built on mutual respect, understanding, patience, and tolerance.

He stressed that marriage must never be an avenue for violence, abuse, or humiliation.

The CP further advised couples and intending spouses to seek proper counseling before and during marriage, embrace peaceful dialogue and anger management during conflicts, involve parents, guardians, religious leaders, or trusted mediators when misunderstandings escalate and avoid resolving marital disputes through violence, as it often leads to irreversible consequences.

The Command also calls on community leaders, families, and relevant stakeholders to create awareness among youths on the do’s and don’ts of marriage, conflict resolution, and healthy relationships.

“The Command remains committed to the protection of lives and dignity, and will ensure that anyone found culpable is brought to justice,” the statement added.
