“If supporting Tinubu is betrayal, what’s a Yoruba man backing Peter Obi” – Cubana Chief fires back at trolls

Nigerian socialite and barman, Cubana Chief Priest has reacted strongly to the backlash trailing his open support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of 2027 elections.

Taking to his Instagram page, the celebrity barman addressed critics who accused him of betraying his tribe over his political stance.

“If an Igbo man supporting Tinubu is a betrayal, what is a Yoruba man supporting Obi? We can only be Nigerians for us to prosper in Nigeria,” he wrote.

He argued that politics should not be driven by tribal sentiments, stressing that strategic alignment is key in the country’s political landscape.

According to him, President Tinubu is “20 steps ahead” and demonstrated patience by waiting eight years after supporting former President Muhammadu Buhari before clinching the presidency.

“Tinubu SERVED! Leaving Tinubu to support any other candidate is like not looking both ways before crossing the road. Follow who know road, stay with person who gets structure so that you sef fit tap in,” he added.

Chief Priest further stated that protests, sit-at-home orders, and constant criticism have not yielded meaningful results, suggesting that sometimes, “if you can’t beat them, you join them.”

His comments come barely a day after he shared a video of buses reportedly donated byIgbo businessmen to support Tinubu’s re-election bid.

Prior to this, the nightlife entrepreneur had a heated online exchange with socialite Isaac Fayose, during which he criticised some political elites in the South-East, accusing them of being self-centred and driven by personal interests.

Cubana maintained that their goal is to deliver Tinubu and make him the preferred candidate in the South-East, insisting that removing him from power remains impossible.
