Nigeria’s Minister of Works, David Umahi, has dismissed allegations circulating online that he refused to pay a woman for a completed job after she allegedly rejected his sexual advances.
The controversy, which has been trending on social media, comes from claims suggesting that the minister owes Ohiri N200 million for promotional materials allegedly supplied during his 2014 governorship campaign.
Responding to critics, Umahi denied owing anyone and described the claims as baseless social media accusations.
He argued that if the allegation had come from a prominent public figure such as Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, it might have carried more weight, but maintained that the current claims lack credibility.
The minister suggested that the controversy was being amplified for online attention and urged the public to shift focus to more pressing national and international matters.
He said in part…
“I owe nobody. If it’s Natasha that said I’m chasing her, my face would be bolder, not anyhow person that’ll accus£ this handsome man of chasing her for 12 years. It’s just for social media, but I think we can turn our attention to the w@r in Iran and allow Umahi to rest”
