British rapper and actor Ghetts has been sentenced to 12 years in prison following a fatal hit-and-run accident that claimed the life of a 20-year-old student in England.
The rapper, whose real name is Justin Clarke-Samuel, previously pleaded guilty to causing the death of Yabin Tamang by dangerous driving.
He also admitted to an additional count of dangerous driving.
The tragic incident occurred on October 18 last year in Ilford, East London.
Reports revealed that he had consumed alcohol before getting behind the wheel and was allegedly driving at about 60mph on a residential road when he struck the victim.
Rather than remain at the scene, he reportedly continued home and was arrested the following day.
Tamang sadly died two days later in hospital from the injuries he sustained.
It will be recalled that Gistreel previously reported when Ghetts was first charged in connection with the fatal crash last year.
At that time, the case sparked widespread reactions due to his celebrity status and role in the Netflix series Supacell.
The recent sentencing now brings the case to a legal conclusion.
In addition to the 12-year prison term, the court ruled that Ghetts will be disqualified from driving for 17 years after his release.
