Court remands teenager for raping neighbour’s 4-year-old daughter in Lagos

The Chief Magistrate’s Court sitting in the Ikeja area of Lagos State on Friday, remanded a teenager, Isreal Mendi, in Kirikiri Correctional Centre over the alleged def!lement of his neighbour’s four-year old daughter.

Mendi, who resides in the Ajah area of Lagos, was arraigned before the court for alleged rape.

The Chief Magistrate, M. F. Onamusi, on Friday, declined to take the teenager’s plea and directed his remand until April 9, 2026, pending advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

The Prosecutor, ASP Adegoke Ademigbuji, told the court that the offence was committed at the defendant’s residence on February 16.

Ademigbuji alleged that Mendi lured the girl into his room under the pretext of sending her to her brother, and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.

He added that the offence contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
