“I walked away after his brother slapped his wife, family blamed her” — Lady

A Nigerian lady has stirred conversations online after sharing a disturbing experience that led to the end of her relationship.

The lady, who posted on X, recounted how a family incident changed her perception of her then-partner and his relatives.

Family reaction sparks outrage

According to her post, the incident happened during a family gathering when her partner’s elder brother allegedly slapped his wife.

The woman explained that the wife had accidentally stepped on him while carrying a tray of glasses to the dining table.

She wrote, “His elder bro slapped his wife, who’d accidentally stepped on him as she was bringing a tray of glasses to the dining table.”

She added that what shocked her most was not just the slap, but the reaction of the entire family.

“I was surprised that the whole family blamed the lady for not being careful even after being embarrassed before the visitor (me),” she said.

Decision to walk away

The post gained more attention after another social media user asked if she left the relationship immediately.

Responding, the woman revealed that she confronted her partner about the incident and the family’s reaction.

“No, I didn’t. I asked my partner by then (ex) why nobody among his family members considered that mistakes happen? And why was everybody blaming the victim instead of the aggressor?” she wrote.

She further disclosed that her partner’s response failed to address her concerns, which ultimately influenced her decision.

“His response sidelined, and that was enough for me to end the relationship,” she concluded.
