Pastor Mrs. Folu Adeboye, wife of renowned General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has opened up about how giving her life to Christ transformed her lifestyle completely, including the things she once cherished the most.
In a viral video circulating on X (formerly Twitter), she recounted that before becoming born again, she had a strong love for fashion and had already invested in gold and other jewellery for her young child, who was under two years old at the time.
However, her newfound faith required a level of sacrifice she never anticipated.
“Every woman loves fashion. I had already made a set of gold and all kinds of things for my child and myself before we became born again. But in Redeemed Christian Church of God, it was taboo to have earrings. So everything, I dropped it in the lagoon,” she said.
She explained that the decision was not easy, especially considering how much she had spent on the items, but she was determined to fully embrace the teachings and expectations of her new faith.
According to her, her mother’s friend had advised her to give the jewelry to her own mother to sell instead of throwing it away, considering how valuable it was.
“I said, whatever is not good for me, it’s not good for my mother. Only God knows how much I spent on jewellery,” she added.
Despite the financial loss, she maintained that her commitment to God came first, stressing that she has no regrets about her decision.
