Despite some resistance, Liverpool fell further behind when Khvicha Kvaratskhelia produced a spectacular finish after rounding the goalkeeper, and doubling advantage for the hosts.

Mamardashvili prevented a heavier defeat with a series of saves, including a notable stop to deny Kvaratskhelia earlier in the game.

The result compounds a difficult spell for Arne Slot’s side, who were recently beaten 4-0 by Manchester City. In Paris, Liverpool set up with a defensive approach but struggled to contain PSG’s attack.

Further concerns emerged defensively, with Ibrahima Konate fortunate to avoid conceding a penalty late on after VAR intervention overturned an earlier decision.

PSG could have extended their lead, with Ousmane Dembele missing multiple clear chances, including an effort that struck the woodwork.
