President Donald Trump posts surveillance footage of moment gunman who reportedly tried killing him at a White House event today rushed passed security

Police in Washington, D.C., say a suspected gunman attempted to breach security at an event linked to the White House Correspondents’ Dinner while carrying multiple weapons.

According to authorities, surveillance footage released by Donald Trump shows the suspect running past metal detectors toward a secured checkpoint as armed security personnel responded.

Jeffery W Carroll said officers engaged the suspect, leading to an exchange of gunfire. A United States Secret Service officer was struck during the incident but was protected by a ballistic vest. “He was taken to hospital and is in good spirits,” Carroll said.

Police described the individual as a “lone gunman.” The suspect was not hit by gunfire but was also transported to hospital for evaluation following the confrontation.

Authorities have not released further details about the suspect or motive, as investigations into the incident continue.
