“I can never carry plate for my man” – Lady sparks debate as she criticizes her mother’s marriage lifestyle

A Nigerian lady has gone viral after sharing what she considers “absurd” things her mother does in her marriage, saying she would never behave the same way in her own relationship.

In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by @AsakyGRN, she explained that she observed her parents’ daily routine and noticed how her mother consistently handles domestic responsibilities, even after both parents return from work together.

“Things my mother does in her marriage that I find really absurd and I’ll never do,” she said.

She explained that her mother does not scold her father even when he makes mistakes and also attends to him in ways she believes are excessive.

According to her, after her father finishes eating, her mother carries his plate, saying she personally would only serve food if she is in the mood.

“Number two, anytime my dad finishes eating, my mum carries his plate. The most I can do for my man is serve him food, and that’s only if I’m in a good mood. I can never carry a plate for my man,” she said.

She further noted that her mother still cooks daily despite working, while her father goes to rest after work, describing the routine as something she finds difficult to accept.

Her comments have sparked mixed reactions online, with some users saying she is disrespecting traditional values of marriage, while others argue that relationships should be based on mutual effort rather than strict gender roles.
