Marriage is designed to benefit men – Chidera Eggerue

Author and influencer Chidera Eggerue has stirred reactions online following her controversial remarks about marriage and relationships.

Speaking during an interview, Eggerue argued that marriage as an institution was largely designed to benefit men, claiming that even financially struggling men often still expect domestic support from women.

She also addressed conversations around dating wealthy partners, stating that she would leave a relationship if a man lost his financial stability.

According to her, she does not believe women should lower their standards or diminish themselves to make men feel more comfortable.

Her words…

“Marriage as a system was designed to benefit men and the reason why I say that is that marriage allows for even the poorest of men to still have a maid.

And that man I’m with, let’s say he loses his money – cause that’s the thing women hear a lot that ‘you want a rich man what if he loses his money’. Guess what, if he loses his money he loses me too.

I’m here to represent women who are not going to bring themselves down to try to make men feel better…”
