“I’m calling off this wedding” — Bride-to-be rejects unusual fiance’s family tradition

A woman has sparked heated discussions online after revealing that she is considering ending her engagement over an unusual wedding tradition practiced by her fiancé’s family.

The lady shared her experience on social media, explaining that her fiancé proposed to her in April and both families had already begun planning for their wedding next year.

However, she said tensions began after he disclosed a long-standing family custom that excludes women from the main wedding ceremony.

According to the woman, the tradition allows only the bride and men from both families to attend the wedding ceremony, while female relatives and friends hold a smaller celebration two weeks later.

“Honestly, the more I think about it, the more it annoys me. I can’t imagine getting married without my mother, sister and all my friends there.”

She also expressed disappointment that her fiancé never mentioned the custom earlier despite their three-year relationship.

“I really hate that he never told me before. We’ve been together for three years and I thought we were close,” she added.

Her fiancé reportedly defended the practice, insisting it was a harmless family tradition dating back generations.

According to him, the custom began after his great-great grandmother was once the only woman in her family attending a wedding celebration.
