A man has gone viral after revealing how a failed relationship in 2021 pushed him into livestock farming instead of sponsoring his girlfriend’s education.
The man, whose identity was not disclosed, shared the story on social media while reflecting on how a decision he made years ago eventually changed his financial situation.
According to him, his former girlfriend had gained admission into school and requested financial support for her education expenses.
Narrating the incident, the man said his girlfriend estimated that she would need about ₦400,000 for her schooling at the time. However, he explained that he only had ₦80,000 available and could not meet the amount she requested.
“In 2021, my girlfriend got admission before me. She told me to sponsor her schooling and asked me to calculate the expenses,” he said.
“She said it would cost ₦400k, but I told her I only had ₦80k. She told me I was wicked, and broke up with me. I used the money to get two goats instead and today here we are.”
The post quickly gained traction online, with many users praising the man for investing in livestock rather than trying to impress someone beyond his financial capacity.
Others described the story as another example of how emotional setbacks sometimes lead people toward profitable opportunities.
In recent years, livestock farming has become increasingly popular among Nigerian youths seeking alternative sources of income due to rising unemployment and economic hardship across the country.
