Thomas Tuchel leaks England team news for World Cup warm-up match

Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that he will field two different teams for each half of England’s World Cup warm-up friendly with New Zealand. He also declared Harry Kane primed and ready to take on the world following the England captain’s record-shattering season.

Bayern Munich talisman Kane has netted a staggering 61 goals across all competitions this season and is in the finest form of his career ahead of the World Cup. England kick off their campaign with a friendly against New Zealand on Saturday, with Kane set to be handed 45 minutes as Tuchel plans to give every player one half each.

The England boss insists his Captain Marvel is in superb condition and raring to go for this summer’s tournament.

Tuchel said: “He looks in top shape. He looks lean, sharp and he trains at the highest level. We had a defensive training session today and he was leading the intensity.

“He’s in top shape. He is ready to go. We don’t have to be worried about him at all, even if it is hot in June. He has showed me the whole week that he is ready. He is our key player.

“He is so used to the high press from Bayern Munich and the intensive game that they play in the opponents’ half. He is leading by example. I think he is in the best shape.”

Tuchel has confirmed he will not hold Kane back, expecting a stern test against New Zealand, while also revealing he has received assurances regarding the pitch.

The England manager, who maintains he is yet to settle on his starting XI, said: “Everyone will be 45 so that gives us the continuation of the week. Some of them need a load, some of them need a recovery. We give 45 to everyone.

“We will try to keep Harry fit and play him as much as possible but hopefully we will have the chance to not need to play him every match 90 or 120 minutes. We will hopefully have the chance for players to step in but that counts for everyone.

“We have a green keeper who takes care of the pitch and I hope it will be alright. It is an American football pitch. I can see that. Hopefully it will be fine. We are told it is okay.”
