“Why did you leave without cooking?”— Husband reacts after requesting 50-50 bills, wife shares experience

A woman has sparked discussion online after sharing how she reacted when her husband reportedly asked that they begin splitting household expenses equally.

The woman, whose account was shared on social media, said her husband woke her up around 3 a.m. one morning to inform her that he wanted a 50-50 arrangement in their marriage because he was tired of handling the family’s bills alone.

According to her, she did not object to the proposal and instead decided to adjust her daily routine in response to the new arrangement.

Change in routine follows request

The woman explained that she usually wakes up by 5 a.m. to prepare her children for school and make breakfast for the family before leaving for work.

However, on the day following the conversation, she remained in bed until 7 a.m. before getting ready and leaving for work, leaving the children in her husband’s care.

She said her phone began ringing repeatedly after she left home as her husband struggled to prepare the children for school.

In recounting the incident, she said:

“My husband woke me up around 3:am one early morning and said he wanted 50-50, that he’s tired of sorting the bills, so he wanted us to start splitting the bills.”

The woman further stated that her husband sent several messages asking why she had left without preparing breakfast or attending to the children.

Responding to him, she explained that she needed to focus on earning enough money to contribute to the new financial arrangement.
