Lille, France – The French national team concluded its preparations for the 2026 World Cup with a well-deserved 3-1 victory over Northern Ireland in a friendly match played on Monday evening.
The United States, Canada, and Mexico will co-host the 2026 FIFA World Cup from June 11 to July 19. For the first time in the tournament’s history, 48 teams will participate.
The French national team entered the match looking to regain confidence after their surprising 2-1 defeat to Ivory Coast in the previous friendly. They succeeded in securing the victory thanks to the brilliance of their star player, Michael Ulise.
Ulisse established himself as the star of the match after scoring France’s three goals (a hat-trick) in the 43rd, 49th and 75th minutes. He also led “Les Bleus” to end their training camp in the best possible way.
In contrast, Patrick Kelly scored Northern Ireland’s only goal in the 64th minute. But it was not enough to avoid defeat against the French team.
France will begin their World Cup campaign against Senegal in Group I. They will then face Iraq and Norway on June 23 and 26, respectively, as they seek to secure their place in the next round.
