Alex Ekubo: “He returned empty” – Emotional moment sister-in-law of late actor speaks at Service of Songs

A service of songs held in Lagos for late Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo turned emotional as his sister-in-law shared heartfelt memories about him and his marriage to her sister, Anwuli.

The gathering brought together family members, friends, and colleagues who came to honour the late actor and reflect on his journey.

Family Explains Why They Accepted Him

Speaking during the event, the sister-in-law recalled how the family first met Alexx Ekubo when he came to ask for their daughter’s hand in marriage.

She said the family took time before accepting him, but later became convinced he was the right partner after observing how he treated people around him.

In her emotional tribute, she also spoke about his life and impact, noting that Ekubo fulfilled his mission on earth but died empty-handed.

She said: “When Ikenna came forth, we knew he was the one. It was difficult at first because our Anwuli is a special breed. He was an intentional lover. If you want to experience love, you need to see Ikenna and Awnwuli. My mother was safe with him because she had seen how he loved his family. His family is not just people related to him, but people around him. He came and fulfilled his mission; yes, it was short because he returned empty. If you want a crazy lover of Jesus.”
