Michael Carrick has been given what Ruben Amorim wasn’t at Manchester United

The 2026/27 Premier League fixtures were released on Friday morning and Man United’s start to the campaign looks much ‘easier’ than the one they were handed in 2025/26.

Here’s everything you need to know about Manchester United’s fixture list for the 2026/27 season:

1. United will start the season with an away trip to the MKM Stadium to face newly-promoted Hull City.
2. After that comes a home clash with Ipswich Town, meaning United play two of the three promoted teams in their opening two games of the season. Up next is a trip to Everton, by no means an easy fixture but United will be delighted with the start they have been given when you compare it to last season’s.
3. United started the 2025/26 season against eventual champions Arsenal, and although they put up a good fight at Old Trafford they failed to pick up any points.
4. After games against Fulham and Burnley, Ruben Amorim’s side then faced Manchester City and Chelsea, meaning their first five games were anything but easy.
5. Nobody is suggesting United will pick up 15 points from their opening five games this season – ok, maybe some optimistic fans might! – and they will again face City early on in the campaign, but Michael Carrick has been given the chance to build on the momentum created last season by getting off to a strong start next term. The fixture list wasn’t quite so kind to Amorim last year, and the former United boss was on the back foot almost immediately with just two wins from United’s first six games.
6. In terms of the notable games in next season’s calendar, United face City on September 12 and March 20. The games against Liverpool are scheduled for November 21 and January 23, and Carrick’s men face Arsenal on December 19 and February 27.
7. United will face Leeds at Elland Road on October 17 before welcoming them to Old Trafford on May 15.
8. It’s worth bearing in mind that all fixtures – bar those in the opening matchweek of the season – are subject to change once TV picks have been made.
