Several reportedly injured as suspected bandits ambush Sunday Igboho’s security team in Oyo forest

Several members of a private security outfit associated with Yoruba Nation campaigner Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, were reportedly injured following an alleged attack by suspected bandits during an operation in Oyo State.

The incident reportedly occurred inside the Old Oyo National Park, where members of the security team were said to be carrying out an operation.

Security operation reportedly targeted suspected criminal hideouts

According to sources familiar with the development, the operatives, identified as members of the Iru Ekun security outfit, had entered the forest to track suspected kidnappers and other armed groups believed to be operating within the area.

The team was also said to have used surveillance drones to monitor movements and identify locations allegedly linked to criminal activities before advancing into the forest.

Operation reportedly turns violent

However, the mission reportedly took a different turn after the operatives allegedly came under attack.

Sources claimed that heavily armed men suspected to be operating across border routes opened fire on the security personnel, leading to an exchange of gunfire inside the forest.

During the reported confrontation, several members of the security team were said to have sustained injuries.
