“Gone are the days men take women on dates” – Lady laments modern dating trend

A Nigerian lady has sparked reactions online after lamenting what she described as the decline of proper dating culture among men.

In a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter), she claimed that many men no longer make efforts to take women out on dates, preferring instead to invite them directly to their homes.

According to her, she misses the excitement of getting dressed up, going on dates, and spending quality time getting to know someone outside the house.

“I don’t know if it’s just me or my fellow girls are also experiencing this. These days, guys hardly take girls out. Gone are the days when a guy would say, ‘Let’s go out on a date,’” she said.

The lady expressed frustration that many men now simply ask women to visit them at home.

She jokingly apologised on behalf of women, wondering if something had happened to make men abandon usual dating pattern.

“But these days, all you hear is, ‘Come to my house.’ ‘When are you coming to visit me?’ Or, ‘Do you live alone?’ I don’t even understand again. “Please, if we women did anything wrong, we are sorry. Forgive us. We miss those days,”. she added.

Her comments have sparked mixed reactions online, with some women agreeing that dating culture has changed, while others argued that the rising cost of living has made frequent outings more difficult.

The video continues to generate conversations about modern relationships and whether traditional dates are gradually becoming a thing of the past.
