“I was more scared of the Cemetery than EFCC” – Lady recounts experience dating alleged Yahoo Boy

A Nigerian lady has gone viral after recounting a frightening experience she claimed led to the end of her relationship with an alleged internet fraudster, popularly known as a Yahoo boy.

In a video shared on social media, the lady narrated how she allegedly found herself hiding inside a cemetery in the middle of the night after reports emerged that EFCC operatives were carrying out arrests in the area.

Lady recounts midnight scare

According to the lady, she had gone to visit her then-boyfriend at his hostel when someone suddenly knocked on the door, warning that EFCC operatives were arresting suspected Yahoo boys nearby.

She said:

So on this fateful day, imagine you are just sleeping and suddenly you heard, ‘Bang! Bang! Bang! Open the door! Open the door!’ from your ex-boyfriend’s friend.

“His friend said he received a call from the nearest hotel that EFCC is now around the area and are arresting G-guys there, and we should hurriedly leave because they are coming over to our side too.”

The lady said her boyfriend hurriedly woke her up and insisted they leave immediately without allowing her to pick up her phone.

“He didn’t even allow me to pick my phone. I told him, ‘What if my parents want to call me if things eventually go wrong?’ I sha wasn’t able to pick my phone.”

“I found myself inside a cemetery”

She explained that they escaped by jumping over a high fence into a neighbouring compound.

However, she was shocked when she discovered where they had landed.

“I wasn’t comfortable with what I was seeing in the building. So I asked him, ‘Where are we, please?’ Only for him to tell me we were inside a cemetery. Cemetery keh? He said it was a Muslim cemetery.”

“That’s how I started seriously crying in the midnight. It wasn’t even the EFCC that was making me cry now, it was the cemetery because it really shocked me that I’m in the midst of corpses around 2 a.m. in the midnight.

“Even my mum knows I hate standing beside corpses.”

Lady says incident ended relationship

The lady said they later hid under a tree inside the cemetery before moving from one location to another after spotting a vigilante.

She claimed they eventually walked from Offa to Ajase in Kwara State before daylight, after which she boarded a bus back to Ibadan.

Although her boyfriend later apologised over the incident, she said the experience left her traumatised and marked the end of their relationship.

“I couldn’t even sleep when I got home because of the trauma.

“He was telling me that he was sorry and that I should forgive him for what happened.

“Ehn, that’s what led to our breakup.”

Her story has since sparked reactions online, with many social media users sharing mixed opinions about her experience.
