Harrison Gwamnishu accuses Rivers state police command of mismanaging case of 10-year-old girl allegedly raped by her parents’ landlord

Human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu has accused officers of the Rivers State Police Command of mismanaging an investigation into the alleged rape of a 10-year-old girl, Rihanat Alabi, by her family’s landlord.

Gwamnishu raised the alarm by sharing a video online where the young victim detailed her ordeal.

In the video, the survivor described an incident that occurred while she was carrying her younger brother to their mother. The landlord allegedly intercepted her and lured her into his room. Once inside, the suspect reportedly committed multiple sexual assaults against the minor.

The survivor stated that the suspect threatened her life to ensure her silence. She further indicated that this was not an isolated incident, alleging that the suspect had subjected her to similar abuse on previous occasions.

The situation came to light after the girl’s employer noticed she was having difficulty walking and questioned her. After the minor disclosed what had happened, her parents were alerted and they filed a report at the Choba Police Station. The case was subsequently transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).
