“Wickedness dey oo” – Lady calls out ‘desperate’ abroad men who pay bride price, sleep with women and later request dowry

A Nigerian lady has called out some men living abroad over their alleged approach to women who take their time before accepting marriage proposals.

In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter), the lady criticised men who go as far as visiting a woman’s village and paying her bride price, only to sleep with her before returning abroad and asking her family to take back the dowry.

In her words, she said:

“Why will you go as far as going to a girl’s village to pay her bride price, and after sleeping with her, immediately you travel back, you send a message that they should go and take the dowry back?

‘Shebi you were playing hard to get. I had to go that far to get you and sleep with you.’ Do you see that you’re a wicked person?”

The lady questioned how such a man would feel if the same thing happened to his sister, stressing that women deserve time to determine whether they are making the right decision before accepting a marriage proposal.

She added that she was heartbroken after hearing about the situation, claiming that the woman involved was left emotionally broken.

“A girl delaying to say yes to you does not mean she’s playing hard to get. She’s only trying to confirm that she’s not making a silly mistake.

“Please, abroad men, if you know that a girl is delaying to say yes and it is not okay with you, please move on. Don’t come and mess any girl’s life up. Wickedness dey oo,” she added.

The lady urged men who are unwilling to wait for a woman’s decision to move on rather than make serious marriage commitments they do not intend to keep.
