Peter Obi warns against vote manipulation ahead of 2027 elections

NDC presidential candidate Peter Obi has warned politicians and government officials against attempting to manipulate the outcome of the 2027 elections.

Speaking at an ongoing town hall meeting in Rivers State, Obi said anyone who attempts to prevent votes from counting should be held accountable, while calling for an end to political threats and intimidation.

The former Anambra State governor criticised governors and political appointees who allegedly issue directives on election outcomes and threaten opponents, describing such behaviour as unacceptable.

Obi also challenged all candidates seeking elective positions in 2027 to directly engage with voters, present their plans to the people and allow Nigerians to decide who they want to elect.

He said in part…

“Anybody who refuses to allow votes to count in 2027, the person must be counted as well. We have heard enough of these nønsense. All these threats must come to an end. Today, people sit in their houses to outsource campaigns to the people. We now see governors and political appointees giving orders that they must win. They’re even being arrogant and threatening other people. Let me tell you, this time all those threats must come to an end. Let whoever who wants to be anything come out and speak to us. Everybody that is contesting must go out and speak to the people, or they must be rejected.”
